In Chief Deputy Keith Brooks’ opening statement, he said, “I’ll work hard to keep our families safe. I’ll draw a line in the sand and send a clear message that Atlanta crimes stops at the line or we’ll stop you.”
Isn’t the PRIMARY duty of the Chief Deputy to oversee the Day-to-Day Operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Shouldn’t that “line” already be drawn, or does the “Atlanta Crime” not really care because they are not being stopped?
Here are the 2022 Crime Stats per 1,000 residence: (2022 GBI Crime Statistics, p.6)
In 2022, the GBI reported a difference of only 2.56 crimes per 1,000 residences between Gwinnett County and Walton County. However, we continue to hear that Gwinnett County and other surrounding metropolitan counties have far worst crime rates than here in Walton.
The FACTS are clear… We are not that far off and without new leadership, it will only continue to get closer and closer as more people move into this county.
That’s NO BULLSCHAD!

Moving Forward!
For those who haven’t heard, two weeks ago by the grace of God, I ended my career with the City of Lawrenceville and retired. This allowed me to place more than 100% effort into my campaign, because the citizens of Walton County deserve that much. And boy… Has it paid off!
These past two weeks have been amazing for the campaign. I have had the pleasure of speaking with so many great citizens throughout the county and got the honor to install many signs. The amazing part is when you knock on the doors or walk into some businesses to introduce yourself, so many already know who you are! Yesterday’s experience was the best thus far!
I walked into a location yesterday and after introducing myself, I felt extremely humbled! These ladies have seen the signs, did their research, and were already convinced they were voting for me, and I just walked in. This just solidifies my campaign knowing that complete strangers have their trust and faith in my abilities to lead Walton County towards the future. I only wish my parents, especially my mother, was here to day to see it. I know she is watching, but it would be better to physically see her smile on her face.
And we have only begun…and that’s No BullSchad!

Does the Walton County Sheriff's Office utilize Grants?
2024 will play an important role for not only the country, but also right here in Walton County. As we move forward to elect a new Sheriff, we must sit back and pick the candidate who can advance our county to the next level. In the next few months, we will be talking about the various policies that I believe is necessary to accomplish this very thing. Today, let’s talk about Grants!
First, we must understand that Federal Grants are never guaranteed!
This means; however, when they do become available for your industry, you need to jump right on it. Federal Grants are not the same as they were 20 years ago, which has made the application process more intuitive. Today, these grants are applied online through various mediums such as the Georgia Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.
Last August, I spoke with Sheriff Chapman and he confirmed that they had applied for a grant in the past but pulled out after it required them to hired another employee to be compliant. He continued saying it was just not cost effective and that he did not like being told how to run the department. ***Many grants have specific requirements based on their purpose. It is unknown what the requirements were for such grant.***
If elected, I would keep an eye on the availability of grants, which will allow us to offset the annual budget and allow newer technology and the tools to combat today’s crime, and incentives towards the hiring and retention of personnel.
